PostSubject: Make a million   Wed Aug 23, 2017 7:16 am

About 15 years ago 3 Australians formed a syndicate to 'attack' UK Greyhounds. They were very successful and achieved their goal of making a million dollars. Clearly they had no conection to any inside information being at the other side of the world. Betting on Betfair every night from about 11pm to 9am (Australian Time) they gradually built up their bank through hard work and a clever system. I have never been privy to how they actually did it but one of them is a friend of mine who retired from betting about 5 years ago due to ill health. At that time the syndicate was 'dissolved'. So it all sounds very attractive ! I was intrigued. The ONLY information he gave me was that they selected the fastest dog - whatever that means ! He said that towards the end of the roughly 10 year stint the 'system' was not working. He said that something had changed and they decided to call it a day. I decided 5 years ago to take up 'The Mantle" and have a go. I too am an Australian living many thousands of miles from the UK. But when you think about it, if you exclude going to the track or receiving inside information, it really makes no difference where you live or what nationality you are. We have the same access, barring access to membership of sites, as those living in the UK. Getting back to their operation for a moment. If you divide $1,000,000 by the number of hours spent at the computer and doing pre-form for each meeting, it doesn't equate to an outstanding hourly pay rate. My journey started with only knowledge of Australian Greyhounds which I had been 'doing' up to that time for the last 20 years. It has been a lifetime interest of mine to create systems/methods to beat the dogs. The UK scene created a whole new set of challenges. It was like I was handicapping a totally new animal. To describe the experience would be to say that it's like wrestling a boa constrictor covered in grease ! Everytime I developed something that worked in the short term, I got cut down like a tree in the forest. It has been a huge battle. I commend Richard, my friend, who 'conquered' the challenge but trying to emulate him has been at times totally exasperating ! I believe that I have a 'handle' on handicapping now but here right now is not the place to record my enlightenment. More to come later.

Thanks for the post zoom top a very interesting read, it's nice to hear a success story, as i have pointed out all along on my website anybody who has a guaranteed (if such a thing exists with greyhounds) system they would not be selling it for a few pounds on ebay or similar like the hundreds that are out there hence the probable secrecy of your friend and who could blame him. There are however many edges that can be exploited as each track has various trends and running styles, the one piece of advice i would give anybody is "NO SYSTEM WILL WORK ACROSS ALL TRACKS IN THE UK IN THE LONG TERM". Study study & more study is required to find a tracks edge.

Regards
